Jesus forgave those who persecuted Him. Likewise, we should do the same also; for when we forgive our enemies, God will forgive us. Even more so, He will bless us beyond that which we could have ever imagined possible.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:11-12)
God commands us to rejoice and be glad when we face persecution. Our hardships are as seasons, and as seasons change, so do the circumstances to our hardships. What seems difficult now may one day seem as a distant memory. Our persecution will one day fade.
Every trial we face by the hands of an enemy is one step closer to what God wants us to look like. He is building a new person within us. When we are ready, He will rescue us from the hands of our tormentors. It is a promise our Father will keep. He will not surrender us to anyone.
Outwardly, we may have the countenance of sheep, meek and willing to serve. Inwardly, God has given us the heart of a lion, ready to roar at the face of trial. We may feel weak, but with God’s spirit living within us, we are strong. We are of the same unshakable resolve as our Father: to do good to all, even to our enemies.
For then we will have fulfilled our calling, and these words will come to pass: blessed are the persecuted.

Dear friend Jack,
“Jesus forgave those who persecuted Him. Likewise, we should do the same also; for when we forgive our enemies, God will forgive us. Even more so, He will bless us beyond that which we could have ever imagined possible.
“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:11-12) End Quoted
It occurs to me that Jesus felt so strongly about forgiveness that He included in th prayer that He taught ALL of us to pray: ….”FORGIVE us as we FORGIVE those who trespass against us.” …The bible goes on to clarify for all of exactly what God is teaching humanity her: EVERY time we pray the “Our father” we ask GOD to forgive US to the precise degree that we forgive everyone else.
And there is another critical teaching on sin forgiveness that is IN THE BIBLE because it is God’s Perfect Will that it be there (1st Cor. 2:3-4) and it is John 20:19-23 (shared here from the King James Bible) “King James Version
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them,Peace be unto you.20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them,Receive ye the Holy Ghost:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.”
Amen Brother Jack
Patrick, I cannot express how powerful these passages are in demonstrating God’s love for us. In all things, He forgives us, and in so doing, we should forgive others. This is truly the key to peace and living a life abundantly following God’s word. As we forgive, His spirit lives in us, growing and leading us to become more like Him. What a pleasure it is to know God loved us so much that he gave His Son Jesus as a sacrifice for the remission of our sins. Blessings!
When God brought us through the fire of the wilderness it prepared us for the encounters with unbelievers and their tormenting words. The words did not surprise us but the mouths that spoke them did. These same mouths spoke of loving Jesus, called themselves Christians and even claimed to worship God! When we walk in faith we have to be prepared to face the torment and hatred of enemies that think they know God and claim to follow Him but don’t they will be enemies ‘from your own household’.
If walk with Jesus in faith this will happen. Thankfully Jesus prepares us as He prepared Joseph. Psalm 105:17-19.
I am grateful God is always there while we undergo our trials. He traces a way for us to escape and gives us the means to bless those who want to harm us. His spirit is a part of us, poured into our hearts, and for that gift, I am so ever grateful.
Amen sir! God bless!
Blessings to you also, Ryan!
11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
1 Corinthians 10:11-14 (KJV)
Such a wonderful passage, Carlos. All glory belongs to God in the highest!
Amen! God Bless you, Sir!
Amen God is strong!
God is truly the awesome God!
