Great Is the LORD

As many times as we lift our hands in worship to God, He blesses us with hope. As many times as we drop to our knees in prayer, giving thanks to Him, He listens and grants His will in our lives. If we humble ourselves before Him, He will always rescue us from our trials.

Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God!
His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.
Within her citadels God
has made himself known as a fortress.

(Psalms 48:1-3)

How great is our God? He creates the mist on a lake, quieting the fish to sleep. He forms the morning dew that rolls from a leaf, giving moisture to the ground underneath. He blossoms the rainbow after a heavy storm, a promise He would protect us from destruction.

How great is our God? He gives us what we need, never allowing us to suffer more than what we can bear. He continually watches over us, delivering us from evil. He saved us by offering His Son Jesus as a sacrifice to pay for the penalty of our sins.

No one can separate us from God. His love for us will never fail. He will bless us in our trial, give us hope when we need it most and rescue us always without restraint.

Great is the LORD!

  5. Though God can rescue us from trials, it is worth noting that He uses suffering and trials to conform us into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ, the Suffering Servant. For many of us, trials last a lifetime. That God does not intervene does not imply that our faith is weak or that He is indifferent. In fact, obedience despite trials is a reflection of faith. Of course, God suffers with us. And it is God who holds us up.

    1. Amen. The apostle Peter said we ought to rejoice in the face of trials, since our trials today are only for a short moment in time. We have eternity to look forward to where we will be with God forever, dwelling in his house. God bless you, Anna!

  6. I love these thoughts: “He creates the mist on a lake, quieting the fish to sleep. He forms the morning dew that rolls from a leaf, giving moisture to the ground underneath. He blossoms the rainbow after a heavy storm…” the way you said that stirs my heart to remember the delicate touch of God.
